Advising in the College of Sciences

How To Get An Advisor

The steps students take to enroll at Washington State University, choose a major, and get advice about what courses to take are outlined below:

Some Important Keys to Success

Students who wish to graduate in four years need to plan carefully. Success depends, in part, on timely completion of the WSU General Education Requirements and early completion of the basic science and mathematics courses that are prerequisites for advanced classes that will be taken later. All bachelor degree programs in the College of Sciences can be completed with four years of study, if attention is paid to the requirements of the chosen curriculum. (Earning a teaching certificate in addition to an academic major, may take an additional semester in some majors.)

Students intending to transfer to WSU from other colleges, universities, or community colleges need to plan ahead to meet the General Education Requirements and to take the prerequisite courses they will need for their intended majors.
