The text book for the course is:
Calculus by J. Stewart, 3rd Edition.
As time allows we will cover material from Chapters 11, 12, and 13, although, some sections will receive more emphasis than others. Homework will be assigned but it will not be collected and graded, although the exams will be based largely on it.
Grades will be assigned based on the following point scale.

The first exam will be on Tuesday October 6. It will be given at 9:10am in Bustad 145, our regular meeting time and place. It will cover Chapter 11, Pages 664 to 739.
The second will be on or about Dec. 1.
Copies of my previous Math. 273 exams are available on reserve in
Owen Library. In addition, a solutions manual is on reserve
there.
The one-hour Exams will given during the regular 9:10 am class
period and will be based upon homework, computer assignments, and
lectures. The Final Examination is comprehensive.
Computer assignments are normally done in the Newton MicroLab (in Neill 101--W) using the Mathematica system. If you have your own computer that runs Mathematica then you are welcome to do the assignments at home.
The Prerequisite for Math 273 is Math 172 and Math 220 or a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of differential and integral calculus of a single variable as well as basic skills in linear algebra. If you are in doubt about your background please see Dr. Barnes as soon as possible.
The Final exam will be comprehensive. The date for the final exam will be given in a general University announcement.
