Washington State University Math Club Problem Contest

The Math Club at Washington State University and the WSU Department of Mathematics invite all high-school students to answer our contest question. Spring 1999 Contest Question

In the plane, let C(r) be the circle of radius r centered at the origin. Find the value of r among the real numbers between 0 and 100 such that C(r) passes through the maximum number of points (a,b) where a and b are both integers.
