1 Introduction

This tutorial should take less then an hour to complete. Afterwards, you should be able to run LaTeX2HTML to convert LaTeX documents into HTML documents for posting on the world wide web. This tutorial was created in LaTeX, and converted using LaTeX2HTML.

LaTeX2HTML was created by Nikos Drakos. It consists of two parts:

1. Special LaTeX style files like 'html.sty', which contain LaTeX commands which can be interpreted by LaTeX and by LaTeX2HTML compilers. For example, the command

   \htmladdnormallink{User's Manual}
   {http://www.sci.wsu.edu/math/helpdesk/latex2html/manual/manual.html}

   creates in the html document the following link to the user's manual which comes along with the program: User's Manual. In the text document, this would show up as 'User's Manual'.
2. The LaTeX2HTML compiler, which takes raw LaTeX code and turns it into hyper text mark-up language (HTML). The compiler does a good job of interpreting LaTeX commands, and even deals reasonably well with commands defined by the

   \newcommand{}

   statement.
