Scholarship Awards Ceremony - Spring 2001

On Thursday, April 26, 2001, the Mathematics Department at Washington State University was pleased to honor a few of its many outstanding students with scholarships. These students were recognized in a Scholarship Awards Ceremony that afternoon in the Hacker Reading Lounge. Several professors, staff members, and fellow students attended the event to recognize these students. Alan Genz, Department Chair, gave opening remarks and welcome to attendees of the Spring 2001 Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
Carin Wharton received the J. Russell and Mildred H. Vatnsdal Junior Mathematics Scholarship, presented to her by Mike Kallaher.
Katie Blomster received the Bell Freshman Mathematics Scholarship, presented to her by Sandy Cooper. Chi Fong also received this award.
Malea Schumacher received the Knebelman Memorial Scholarship, presented to her by Mike Kallaher.
Kacie Nixon received the Knebelman Outstanding Senior Award, presented to her by Robert Mifflin.
Ray Huffaker received the Knebelman Outstanding Senior Award. The award was presented by Robert Mifflin.
Alex M. Wood received the Marianne Hawley Fessler Scholarship, presented by Donna Pierce. Lindsey Jorgensen also received this award.
Tyler D. Cumby and Deanne Lamkin received the Sidney G. Hacker Undergraduate Scholarship, presented by Bill Webb. Holly Cutler also received this award.
Dan Wiley and Parthasarathi Nag received the Sidney G. Hacker Graduate Scholarship which was presented to them by Mark Schumaker.
Jim Miller received the Sidney G. Hacker Graduate Scholarship. The award was presented by Mark Schumaker.
Eric Mapes received the Sidney G. Hacker Graduate Scholarship, also.
Lynn Harrison, Eric Remaley and Michele Buchan received the Sidney G. Hacker Graduate Teaching Award which was presented by Carolyn Smith.
Dan Wiley received the Brent A. Bannister Graduate Award. Kelly Hogan, Jason Sarich, Wayne Tabor and Mei Tian also received the award.
