Accommodations for Students with Disabilities

Reasonable accommodations are available for students who have a documented disability.  Please notify me during the first week of class of any accommodations needed for the course.  Late notification may cause the requested accommodation to be unavailable.  All accommodations must be approved through the Disability Resource Center (DRC) in Administration Annex, 206-335-1566.  To receive the accommodations requested, students must:
  1. Have documentation of their disability on file at the DRC;

  2. Complete and sign an Accommodation Form with a DRC staff member and take it to each instructor for her/his signature.

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) helps provide accommodations for students with documented disabilities.  THE DRC DOES NOT TEST STUDENTS FOR LEARNING DISABIILITIES.  Dependeing on the problems the student reports to the DRC, the student is referred to Testing Services in the Counseling Center, the Psychology Clinic on campus, private psychologist, Student Health and Wellness or the Communications Disorders Clinic in Daggy.  The DRC does not have any direct or official connection with the referral sources and does not influence the testing in any way.  Once the testing is completed, the student brings the results to the DRC to receive appropriate accommodations.  The DRC does not approve accommodations for students without acceptable test results.

PLEASE NOTE: Test anxiety by itself IS NOT A DISABITITY and the DRC does not accommodate the student if that is their only problem (the DRC would refer the student to the Counseling Center for counseling).  Also, having English as a second language DOES NOT qualify students to receive accommodations.
